⁶ Wail! For the day of the Lord is near.^(A)
It will come as destruction from the Almighty.^(B)

⁴ Say to the cowardly:
“Be strong; do not fear!
Here is your God; vengeance is coming.^(A)
God’s retribution is coming; he will save you.”^(B)

³ Your nakedness will be uncovered,
and your disgrace will be exposed.^(A)
I will take vengeance;
I will spare no one.”^[a]

² to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor,^(A)
and the day of our God’s vengeance;^(B)
to comfort^(C) all who mourn,

⁴ For I planned the day of vengeance,^(A)
and the year of my redemption^[a] came.
