²¹ So the Lord God caused a deep sleep to come over the man,^(A) and he slept. God took one of his ribs and closed the flesh at that place.

¹² As the sun was setting, a deep sleep^(A) came over Abram, and suddenly great terror and darkness descended on him.

²¹ While he was sleeping from exhaustion, Heber’s wife, Jael, took a tent peg, grabbed a hammer, and went silently to Sisera. She hammered the peg into his temple and drove it into the ground, and he died.

¹⁸ While he was speaking to me, I fell into a deep sleep,^(A) with my face to the ground. Then he touched me, made me stand up,^(B)

⁹ I heard the words he said, and when I heard them I fell into a deep sleep,^[a](A) with my face to the ground.

⁶ So then, let us not sleep, like the rest, but let us stay awake and be self-controlled.
