The NIV 365 Day Devotional
Duration: 365 days
Trusting God in the Hard Times
These two verses form one of the greatest statements of faith in the Bible. Habakkuk states that no matter what comes he will rejoice in God. Look at his list of calamities: No figs, no grapes, no olives, no grain, no milk or meat . . . nothing. Even then he will rejoice. Even when all is lost. And notice that Habakkuk doesn’t just say he’ll trust God or believe in God. He says he will rejoice. Pretty incredible, isn’t it?
REMEMBER: When we face hard times, we might think it’s impossible to be joyful. Is it hard? For sure! Is it impossible? Nope. Habakkuk tells us the best way to prepare for calamity. Trust God when times are good. Build a steady and sturdy relationship with God before hard times hit.
