Jesus Calling Devotional Bible
Genesis 12
As my Creator, You know that I am a planner from start to finish. I plot out not just the hours of each day, and the weeks of each month, but the goals for each year. And I have a step-by-step strategy to accomplish it all!
On my calendar for this day, I’ve included set times for family, for friends, and for You, Lord. Times for work and for recreation, just like You said we should. I even have the alarm set on my cell phone so that I will go to bed at a decent hour tonight!
I’m thankful You have given me the ability to plan ahead and be organized; it has saved me a lot of time and stress over the years. But I’m also aware that You ask us to walk with You each day, not the other way around. And sometimes, that journey involves divine appointments we never imagined or planned.
As much as I like to think I have this day all figured out, I want most of all to be a good steward of every opportunity You set before me. Though it is hard for me to forgo my schedule, remind me to listen to Your Spirit and to do exactly as You ask, when You ask.

Control
Relax and let Me lead you through this day. I have everything under control: My control. You tend to peer anxiously into the day that is before you, trying to figure out what to do, and when. Meanwhile, the phone or the doorbell rings, and you have to reshuffle your plans. All that planning ties you up in knots and distracts you from Me. Attentiveness to Me is not only for your quiet time, but for all your time. As you look to Me, I show you what to do now and next.
Vast quantities of time and energy are wasted in obsessive planning. When you let Me direct your steps, you are set free to enjoy Me and to find what I have prepared for you this day.
