Now as a recompense for this (I speak as unto my children), be ye also enlarged.
Now for a recompense in like kind (I speak as unto my children), be ye also enlarged.
Now in the same way as a fair exchange [for our love toward you]—I am speaking as [I would] to children—open wide [your hearts] to us also.
By way of return then, do this for me—I speak as to children—open wide your hearts also [to us].

I speak as to my children; as a proper response, open your heart to us.
But as a fair trade—I’m talking to you like you are children—open your hearts wide too.
So, just to be “fair” (I am using the language of children), open wide your hearts too.
I speak to you as I would speak to my own children. Please make room in your hearts for us.
but for an answering recompense, (I speak as to children,) let *your* heart also expand itself.
Now as the same return— I speak as to my children— you also open-wide.
But having the same recompense, (I speak as to my children,) be you also enlarged.
I speak to you as if you were my children. Do the same as we have done—open your hearts also.
I am speaking to you as I would speak to my own children. Be fair to us! Accept us as your friends, just as we have accepted you.
I am speaking as to my children: In exchange, open your hearts wide too.

I’m talking to you as I would talk to children. Treat us the same way we’ve treated you. Make a place for us in your hearts too.
I speak now as though you were my children: show us the same feelings that we have for you. Open your hearts wide!
I speak as to my children. As a proper response, you should also be open to us.
I speak to you as if you were my children. Do to us as we have done—open your hearts to us.
Do us a favor—I ask you as my children—and open wide your hearts.
Oh, our dear friends in Corinth, we are hiding nothing from you and our hearts are absolutely open to you. Any stiffness between us must be on your side, for we assure you there is none on ours. Do reward me (I talk to you as though you were my own children) with the same complete candour!

Dear, dear Corinthians, I can’t tell you how much I long for you to enter this wide-open, spacious life. We didn’t fence you in. The smallness you feel comes from within you. Your lives aren’t small, but you’re living them in a small way. I’m speaking as plainly as I can and with great affection. Open up your lives. Live openly and expansively! * * *

If I could offer some fatherly advice: open yourselves up as children; share your hearts with us as we have done for you.

I say this as to my own children. You should love us with all your hearts. with those who do not believe. You and they are not equal. How can people who do right, work with those who do not obey God? How can light and darkness be in the same place?
And I say as to sons, ye that have the same reward, be ye alarged. [Forsooth, we having the same reward, I say as to sons, and be ye alarged.]
and [as] a recompense of the same kind, (as to children I say [it],) be ye enlarged -- also ye!
