⁴⁹ And look, I am sending you^[a] what My Father promised.^(A) As for you, stay in the city^[b] until you are empowered^[c](B) from on high.”

²⁶ But the Counselor, the Holy Spirit^(A)—the Father will send^(B) Him in My name—will teach you all things^(C) and remind you of everything I have told you.^(D)

Coming Testimony and Rejection

²⁶ “When the Counselor^(A) comes, the One I will send to you from the Father^(B)—the Spirit of truth^(C) who proceeds from the Father—He will testify about Me.

⁷ Nevertheless, I am telling you the truth.^(A) It is for your benefit that I go away, because if I don’t go away the Counselor will not come to you. If I go, I will send Him to you.^(B)

2 My little children, I am writing you these things so that you may not sin. But if anyone does sin, we have an advocate^(A) with the Father—Jesus Christ the Righteous One.

³³ Therefore, since He has been exalted to the right hand of God^(A) and has received from the Father the promised Holy Spirit,^(B) He has poured out^(C) what you both see and hear.
