¹¹ When we heard these reports, ^(A)our hearts melted and no ^[a]courage remained in anyone any longer because of you; for the ^(B)Lord your God, He is God in heaven above and on earth below.

⁵ And the men of Ai struck and killed about thirty-six of their men, and pursued them ^[a]from the gate as far as Shebarim and struck them on the mountainside; and the ^(A)hearts of the people melted and became like water.

⁷ And when they say to you, ‘Why are you groaning?’ you shall say, ‘Because of the ^(A)news, for it is coming; and ^(B)every heart will melt, all hands will go limp, every spirit will be disheartened, and all ^[a]knees will drip with water. Behold, it is coming and it will happen,’ declares the Lord ^[b]God.”
