⁹ When they arrived at the place that God had told him about, Abraham built the altar there and arranged the wood. He bound his son Isaac^[a] and placed him on the altar^(A) on top of the wood.

³ We recall, in the presence of our God and Father,^(A) your work produced by faith,^(B) your labor motivated by love, and your endurance inspired by hope in our Lord Jesus Christ.^(C)

¹⁷ By faith Abraham, when he was tested, offered up Isaac.^(A) He received the promises and yet he was offering his one and only son,
