¹⁹ Your servant has indeed found favor with you, and you have shown me great kindness by saving my life. But I can’t run to the mountains; the disaster will overtake me, and I will die.

¹² “Lord, God of my master Abraham,” he prayed, “make this happen for me today,^(A) and show kindness to my master Abraham.

¹⁴ But when all goes well for you, remember that I was with you. Please show kindness to me by mentioning me to Pharaoh, and get me out of this prison.

²⁹ When the time approached for him to die,^(A) he called his son Joseph and said to him, “If I have found favor with you, put your hand under my thigh^(B) and promise me that you will deal with me in kindness and faithfulness.^(C) Do not bury me in Egypt.

¹² Now please swear to me by the Lord that you will also show kindness to my father’s family, because I showed kindness to you.^(A) Give me a sure sign^[a]

³⁵ They did not show kindness^(A) to the house of Jerubbaal (that is, Gideon) for all the good he had done for Israel.

⁶ Now, may the Lord show kindness and faithfulness to you, and I will also show the same goodness to you because you have done this deed.
