7 “When the Lord your God brings you into the land^(A) you are entering to possess,^(B) and He drives out many nations before you—the Hittites, Girgashites, Amorites, Canaanites, Perizzites, Hivites and Jebusites, seven nations more numerous and powerful than you—

Israel’s Inheritance in Canaan

14 The Israelites received these portions that Eleazar the priest,^(A) Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families of the Israelite tribes gave them in the land of Canaan.^(B)

⁵¹ These were the portions that Eleazar the priest, Joshua son of Nun, and the heads of the families distributed to the Israelite tribes by lot at Shiloh in the Lord’s presence at the entrance to the tent of meeting.^(A) So they finished dividing up the land.

⁴⁵ Our ancestors in turn received it and with Joshua brought it in when they dispossessed the nations that God drove out before our fathers,^(A) until the days of David.
